Mark Wahlberg
Son of Alma and Donald. Brother of 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Born in Dorchester. High-school dropout, later got GED. Did various jobs including bricklayer and was convicted of several minor felonies. Recorded two albums and toured as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. "Music For the People" (Interscope, 1991) and "You Gotta Believe" (Interscope, 1992). Won Best Dance Single for "Good Vibrations" Still tours in Europe. Best known for dropping his pants onstage. Modeled underwear for Calvin Klein beginning in 1992 with supermodel Kate Moss in a widely-distributed campaign photographed by Herb Ritts. Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg was born in the poor working class district of Boston known as Dorchester. He was born on June 5th, 1971; the youngest of nine children. His parents were Alma & Donald Wahlberg. The large Wahlberg brood didn't have a lot growing up, especially after his parents divorced when he was eleven. He'd spend his days scamming and stealing, working on the odd drug deal before treating himself to the substances himself. The young man also had a violent streak - one which was often aimed at minorities. At age 16, he was convicted of assault against two Vietnamese men after he had tried to rob them. He dropped the Marky Mark moniker and became known simply as Mark Wahlberg. His first big screen role came in Penny Marshall's Renaissance Man. Despite the name change, many people snickered at the idea of the has-been rapper thinking he could make it as an actor. The kids crammed into a three bedroom apartment, none of them having very much privacy. After the divorce, Mark's mother has said that she became very self-absorbed with her own problems. She blames herself for her son's subsequent problems and delinquency. Wahlberg dropped out of high school at age 14 (but later got GED) to pursue a life of petty crime and drugs. From the get-go he was proving them wrong. In Renaissance Man, he gave an utterly charming performance as a simple but sincere army recruit. What naysayers remained found it increasingly difficult to write Mark Wahlberg off as he delivered one fine performance after another. |

Luke Perry Coy Luther Perry III was born in rural Fredricktown,Ohio, Perry was the middle child, between older brother Tom and younger sister Ann. His parents divorced when he was 6. The true father figure in Luke's life is Steve Bennett, a construction worker whom his mother, Ann Perry, a homemaker, married in 1978, when Perry was 12. As a child, Perry discovered acting while watching soap operas with his mother. Perry never got along with his father, Coy Perry II, a steelworker. When the elder Perry died of a heart attack in 1980, he and his son had not reconciled. He recognised that the dialogue was cheesy and the plots were ludicrous, but he also saw that a good actor could make you watch a show even if the writing stank. He loved seeing beautiful women regularly swoon over Robert Conrad on the show "The Wild Wild West". "I responded to that on a very base level as a little kid", he says. "It was like,'he gets to kiss the hot chicks, and I want to be him'". At Fredricktown High School, his quest for the limelight led him to the cheerleading squad, where he wore yellow tights and red plumes to play Freddie Bird, the school mascot. By all accounts, Perry was Fredricktown's resident ladies' man and was voted "biggest flirt" in his senior yearbook. In 1995, Perry became the first 90210 star to quit the show, but in 1998 he returned for financial reasons. Met Minni Sharp at a 1991 dinner party in Los Angeles: 90210 hadn't aired yet and she had no idea who he was. They started dating and moved in together shortly after. On November 20,1993, Perry and Minni Sharp were married before 50 family members and friends at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. To avoid the paparazzi, the couple sneaked out the back door of their reception room and drove 80 miles an hour to the airport before flying to San Francisco for their honeymoon. |
